The Pinot Noir vineyards belonging to Franz Haas are the highest in the Alto Adige and grow where the demands of the altitude require a viticulture that's arduous and downright difficult. Since 1880 this family-run winery, one of the most firmly-rooted in this region, has shown dedication and respect in their work with the varieties which adapt best to the location's extreme conditions; among them is the Pinot Noir, with Franz Haas being one of its greatest interpreters.

Typicity, pleasure, character and personality are the attributes which ensure Franz Haas wines conquer all palates. These wines are never predictable, and always an excellent choice. The product of lands that are very well disposed towards viticulture, due to both the exceptional nature of their microclimate and also their soils — rich in sand, porphyry, clay and limestone — the wines of Franz Haas in their presentation too have distinctive labels designed by Ricardo Schweizer, a pupil of Picasso and Le Corbusier.

The winery's range doesn't fail to deliver. At the top of its wines, the Pinot Noir puts in an appearance with its great Schweizer, a wine which has an ageing period of 15 months in barrels, fruity and fragrant, with notes of leather, ink, oak and pepper; and its Vintage Pinot, more appreciated by the day by specialist critics and wine lovers due to its agility, its enveloping fruity aromas and a palate that's full and smooth, limpid and graceful.

Among its white wines, the Gewurztraminer and the Sauvignon, with their fullness and freshness, represent all the potential the international varieties are capable of in this region. There's also its Pinot Bianco Lepus, fruity and citrusy, fresh and warm at the same time, powerful and delicate, very persistent and mineral.

The jewel in the winery's crown is a rarity that proves obligatory for enthusiasts and the more expert alike: Moscato Rosa, a wine of irresistible charm, brimming with jam, red fruit, cinnamon and citrus fruit peel on the nose. On the palate, its freshness makes its fleshy, taut, long and not at all cloying.
