The Chianti Podere Gamba shows a beautiful intense ruby red color; the aromatic profile is composed of pleasant notes of dark pulp fruit and hints of violets, coffee and licorice. The sip is broad and exuberant, balanced by freshness and velvety tannins. Excellent persistence. This Chianti goes beautifully with red meats, especially grilled meats and stewed or braised meats. Also excellent with meats and important cheeses.
Drinking and storing
Not so sure . . .
Very much enjoyed the 2015 Pugnitello from the same stable (see other review), but not so sure about this one ((Sangiovese, of course, but with Pugnitello as well). Tasted a little tart? Many better Chiantis for the money - don't know if it was the grape blending that (for me) didn't work, or whether it was other factors - but for me this one didn't hit the spot.
