Prosecco

Prosecco is Italy's most famous sparkling wine: light, fresh, and usually lower in alcohol than Champagne or Cava. It's made mainly from the Glera grape in Veneto, in Brut, Extra Dry and Dry styles, ranging from crisp to lightly sweet. The key difference from Champagne or Cava is how it gets its bubbles. Prosecco ferments a second time in large steel tanks rather than in the bottle, which keeps it fresher and fruitier — and is part of why it's usually more affordable. We keep a small, carefully chosen selection of Prosecco from established Veneto producers. If you're after more range or more depth, our Cava selection — including small-producer Corpinnat — covers similar ground with far more choice. We're a Robert Parker Wine Advocate Trusted Retailer, so the wines on this list have been vetted by independent experts — not just by us.

What makes Prosecco different?

Prosecco gets its bubbles through a second fermentation in large steel tanks, known as the Charmat or tank method — unlike Champagne and Cava, which ferment a second time inside the bottle itself. This keeps Prosecco's character fresh and fruity, and is one of the main reasons it costs less than traditional-method sparkling wines.

It's made from the Glera grape, grown mainly in the hills around Conegliano and Valdobbiadene in Veneto — the DOCG zone that produces the highest-quality Prosecco.
