Verdeca

Puglia and Salento are certainly not regions for white wines, but verdeca, together with the bianco d'Alessano and fiano minutolo is the small exception to the rule. A green bunch, for some people verdeca has affinity with albariño, the Galician white wine protagonist of the so-called "green wines". A typical sea wine also for pairings, verdeca gives straw-yellow wines with greenish nuances. On the nose it has hints of wild flowers, citrus fruits, pineapple, with a herbaceous subtext and an almond finish. Lightly structured, verdeca wines are fresh, sapid and with good persistence.
