Cited since 1825, probably long before that, verduzzo have existed in the Friulian vineyard. Native and very widespread in the region, it mainly populates the hilly areas. On the palate, the pulp of the berries appears juicy and aromatic, and in fact this vine gives mainly sweet or suave wines deriving from late harvest or withering of the grapes. Thanks to the always soft and pronounced structure of the wine, even when vinified dry, verduzzo perfectly expresses itself as a classic Friulian sweet-not-sweet wine, especially along the Colli Orientali, specifically in the area of Cialla and in the small Ramandolo DOCG. These versions, sometimes aged in wood, are extremely suitable for ageing, also thanks to the acid and mineral content they manage to accumulate. However, verduzzo can also be produced as a dry aperitif white, fragrant and pleasant, with a minerality that recalls hydrocarbon and an initial impression on the palate that is always velvety and enveloping.
