Pallagrello Bianco

Once considered as one with the coda di volpe, pallagrello bianco is actually a white grape in its own right, grown in a small area of the upper Caserta area. It was a great success in the eighteenth century, one of Ferdinand IV of Bourbon's favourites, and together with pallagrello nero, it returned to the magnificent Vigna del Ventaglio di San Leucio di Caserta, an extensive semi-circle vineyard with ten rays, destined for the ten most prestigious varieties of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. Bright straw-yellow, the bouquet has sensations of iris, white fruit, aromatic herbs; on the palate it is tonic, dynamic and mineral, full but pleasant to drink.
