The wine

Only about 1000 bottles of this impressive wine made from indigenous grape varieties are produced every year. Its fruit is grown in vineyards on vertiginously steep terraces, similar to those in the Ribeira Sacra area or the Priorat. Amongst other difficulties, this means no machinery can be used in the vineyards and this has led to grape-growing in these locations being classified as heroic viticulture.

The Vive La Vida wine spends 10 months in barrels, and emerges with a nose with lactic and smoky tones, and aromas of red fruits and shrub. A curious sweet note may even remind us of cola drinks. The subtly used wood strengthens an apparently fragile structure with elegant tannins. Every sip lets us see the similarities with the best wines from Bierzo or the Ribeira Sacra: with aromas of juicy and crisp wild strawberries, dark plum skins, bay leaves, and even slate. The acidity of blackcurrants gives the wine a great future, with just the right amount of tannins to make it almost addictive. Juicy and crispy, this is a fine drink with a long finish, whose hints of spices and herbs make it a very gastronomic wine.
