The wine

Edetària offers two wine ranges: the superior line, Edetària, which exhibits all the potential of the indigenous varietals, Garnacha and Cariñena, and their Mediterranean character, and the Via Edetana line, which includes international varietals such as the Viognier and the Syrah, introduced into the region many years ago and now perfectly well established. There to be appreciated in all their wines, both whites and reds, is the character of the terroir, ultimately responsible for that special trait they possess; it's an arid, harsh land which rewards with notable elegance the devoted work of those who have the knowledge and put in the effort, cultivating it with respect and sensitivity.

The Edetana red is a very pure wine and shows signs of being a fine wine; pure and profound. Allow it a little time before serving and you'll see how delightful it turns out, rich and complete. Amidst the profusion of fruit and a gentle floral fragrance, of lemon verbena, dried mint, dry earth and spices, its fresh character stands out — a freshness which is especially due, curiously enough, to the Syrah grapes, planted on very deep soils capable of moderate water retention and thereby keeping the fruit constantly fresh and smooth. In Edetària wines, the terroir always steers the fruit, and this wine is no exception, with terroirs of diverse composition, which enrich the end result and make it more complex. In Edetana, the ever-seductive Garnacha greets us in the first glass, the Syrah appears next with volume and lusciousness, and the Cariñena completes our experience with its fragrant, intense and distinctive touch. A fine fusion between terroir, fruit and landscape, a wine with a serious profile, a vivid bright colour, and a very affordable price.

Aged for 12 months in 300 and 500-litre French oak barrels, used for three or four wines.

Edetària

Edetària is the personal project of Joan Àngel Lliberia, son of a farmer and grandson of an oenologist, an agricultural engineer by profession and a real enthusiast for his land and vines. His efforts and fine work have earned him a place among the benchmark signature wines of the Terra Alta, a denomination with a very long vine-growing tradition and well-established wine-making experience, which is now aiming to follow in the footsteps of its neighbour, the Priorat.
