The wine

The Listán Blanco grapes used to make this wine come from the famous Los Realejos area known as la Piñera.

La Piñera lies at an altitude of around 600 metres above sea level and faces north. The vines average 80 years old and are grown on a traditional cordon system.

Suertes del Marqués Barrica is made from Listán Blanco and Malvasía, forming a blend that varies slightly depending on the year. After careful destemming and without crushing, the grapes are taken to the pneumatic press where only the free run juice is drawn off into 500 litre capacity French oak barrels. Alcoholic fermentation begins spontaneously on reaching the barrels, and lasts for approximately twenty-five days, with the wine in constant contact with its lees. Afterwards, for a period of 10 months, the wine is refined in barrel with batonnage or hand-stirring once a month, a process which brings about harmony between the minerality from the terroir and the elegance endowed by oak-ageing. The result is a white wine of great complexity and cellaring capacity.

A straw-yellow colour with greenish tones on the rim, this wine is elegant and harmonious on the nose, with notes of fruit (Malvasia), minerals and fine wood. On the palate, it comes over as well-balanced, sumptuous and fresh, displaying mineral and fruit notes, with a lingering finish.
