The wine

This is the Michelini i Mufatto family’s entry wine in the Bierzo. A wine of great purity, with an aromatic array that’s very clean, very floral, with a refreshing, wild-woodland character, of moderate alcoholic strength and medium-bodied, creating a really easy wine to drink... It’s one of those wines deserving nothing but merits. The only thing wrong, it disappears off our website a few hours after being put on sale. So if you find it available, don’t hesitate for a minute!

En el Camino is a ‘regional wine’ produced using grapes from several vineyards which in time expects to become a ‘village wine’, from the Ponferrada district.

2021 was a cold year with snow, plenty of rain and some mildew pressure that delivered a slim 2021 En el Camino, a blend of Mencía and 10% other grapes (Palomino, Doña Blanca and Alicante Bouschet) from different vineyards mostly on clay and quartz soils. It fermented with 30% full clusters and indigenous yeasts and matured in a 50/50 combination of oak casks and stainless steel. It's very perfumed, expressive and open, elegant and balanced, fine-boned and seductive, very clean and defined. 30,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in October 2022.

Somewhat reductive character on the nose (flint). Earthy, white pepper and strawberry, hint of tomato leaf. Very pleasant to drink; mouth-watering acidity, soft tannins and ethereal texture. A wine with an aerial profile.
