The wine

A 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) wine produced by Bodega Santa Eulalia at La Horra, the Frutos Villar family’s estate of 210 hectares in the Ribera del Duero region.

Once the grapes are filled into stainless steel tanks, the must is pumped over 2 or 3 times a day for 10-15 days and maintained at a controlled temperature. The barrel ageing period lasts for 4 months, followed by a minimum of 3 months rest in bottle before release.

Appearing clean and bright, and an intense purplish-red colour, the wine exhibits blue and violet hues on the rim. Clean and open on the nose, the primary aromas of ripe fruit and vanilla linger well. With a light mouthfeel, the palate is meaty and velvety, and reveals elegant ageing notes.

Aged for 4 months in American oak barrels.

Bodega Calderona, their second winery, was set up in Cigales in 1960 and has 105 hectares of vineyards, producing wines which...
