Arribes

With its creation in 2007, Arribes is one of the youngest Spanish appellations. The Arribes DO is located between the southwest of Zamora and the northwest of Salamanca, along the valleys of the Duero River.

Grape Varieties

On its granite and slate soils covered with shallow sands, Malvasía, Albillo, Tempranillo and Rufete vines take root, among others, and especially the reds Juan García and Bruñal, two native varieties that are the backbone of some of the best red wines of the appellation.

Vineyards

The vineyards of the DO Arribes border the Duero River as it passes through the provinces of Zamora and Salamanca, within the Arribes del Duero Natural Park.

The area has a very rugged terrain, caused by the strong encasement of the Duero River and its tributaries, which causes the vineyards to be planted at very different altitudes and with varied exposures. The soils are mainly characterised by a silty-sandy texture, shallow and very stony.

Climate

The climate, with a clear Atlantic influence, allows us to obtain concentrated grapes of the highest quality, as rainfall is scarce during the ripening cycle and summers are warm. The wines of the DO Arribes are bright and fruity, increasingly coloured and intensely mineral.
