Victorino is valour and powerfulness, harmony and elegance, balance and nobility; a homage to ancestors, in particular to Don Victorino, grandfather of Marcos and Miguel, and in general to the land of Toro and its grape, the Tinta de Toro.
Summary of Marcos Eguren's evaluation of the 2013 vintage in Toro
With the 2012 harvest only recently finished, the new year started off with constant rains which increased the water reserves in our soils and, with some moderation, continued through the winter months. They were also frequent in spring, making any work cultivating the land difficult but facilitating excellent development within the vineyard and enabling us to reach summer without the water stress so usual over this period.
Temperatures have been characterised by a mild winter which nevertheless gave us some particularly cold days (managing to get down to -6ºC), and an equally cold spring until the middle of April, when the temperatures rose and, as a result, bud burst took place. At the end of April, a spring frost considerably reduced the eventual yields of some vineyards and the warm days and cold mornings continued in their customary fashion until June, all causing a significant delay in the vegetative cycle. It was not until June 12th that flowering commenced in many of the vineyards and, on top of that, an irregular fruit set. Then with high temperatures, on August 6th we found the first berries were changing colour and a slow onset of ripening got under way which concluded over the course of the month. Maturation occurred in a sunny September, but the rains in the last weeks of the month delayed even longer the start of harvesting.
October 5th saw the beginning of a harvest that would extend until the end of October and which was characterised by pleasant temperatures during the day and very low ones at night, thus achieving proper maturity in both a physiological and phenolic as well as an aromatic sense.

The Eguren family, originally from La Rioja, discovered Toro and has stayed with it, persuaded by the land’s potential and by the Tinta de Toro, a grape with great structure, able to convey the minerality of the soils but with a strong character that needs understanding and “taming”. Marcos...
