The wine

Made primarily from grapes of the Mazuelo variety, the Baigorri Belus is one of the most impressive wines produced by the Samaniego winery. Its freshness on the nose is widely recognised, and the hints of liquorice and wild berry fruits forestall undertones of earth and India ink. Its entry on the palate is delicate and its passage extremely elegant; there's nothing superfluous in it, everything is there in just the right amount. It's powerful, yes, but also silky; its vibrant acidity and the well-integrated tannins deliver an exceptional red, with a balsamic and totally rounded finish, showing great balance between the bitter notes and the acidity and juiciness of the ripe red fruit.
